Originally named Disappointment for dashing Alexander Mackenzies hope thatit would lead to the Pacific rather than the Arctic Ocean, the Mackenzie Riveris Canadas largest, longest river system. Traversing 2,635 miles, it flowsthrough a vast network of lakes, boreal forests and arctic tundra. Mackenziesmany tributaries cover portions of three provincesBritish Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewanand two territories, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. Knownas The Amazon of the North, Mackenzies sparsely populated basin remains oneof the great unspoiled natural areas in the world.
SOLID PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER+ (PSC+) CONDUCTORS:
Perfect-Surface Copper+ has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface.Proprietary metal-processing technology protects the wires surface at everystage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity low-oxide copper is kept assoft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion PSC+conductor. PSC+ is manufactured by applying the same exceptional technology toan ultra-pure copper. The resulting sound quality is even more focused andsimply less in the way. For over 30 years AudioQuest has pioneered the use ofsuperior metals; yet even we were surprised by the huge leap in performance madepossible with Perfect-Surface Technology. PSC+ simply outperforms all previouslyavailable copper metals at any price. All of Mackenzies conductors are solid.Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in a conventional cable isthe greatest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty, harsh sound.Solid conductors are fundamental toward achieving Mackenzies very clean sound.
NITROGEN-INJECTED HARD-CELL FOAM INSULATION:
Nitrogen-Injected Hard-Cell Foam insulation is used exclusively in most ofAudioQuests video and digital audio cables. Similar to Foamed-PE, it isnitrogen-injected to create air pockets. Hard foam is used because thestiffness of the material allows the conductors in the cable to maintain thesame relationship with each other along the full length of the cable, thusensuring that the characteristic impedance of the cable is consistent.
CARBON-BASED 3-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS):
100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference frommodulating the equipments ground reference requires AQs Noise-DissipationSystem. Metal and Carbon-Loaded synthetics prevent most RFI from reaching theequipments ground plane.
TRIPLE-BALANCED GEOMETRY:
The three conductors in Triple-Balanced Mackenzie cables ensure that whetherprepared with RCA or XLR plugs, the positive and negative signals have equallylow-distortion conducting paths. The 100% coverage shield is never used as aninferior conductor.
COLD-WELDED HANGING-SILVER DIRECTLY OVER PURE PURPLE COPPER PLUGS:
This plug design allows for a connection devoid of solder, which is a commonsource of distortion. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability. PurpleCopper offers a cleaner, clearer sound than the nickel-plated or OFHC metalscommonly found in competing manufacturers plugs.
