Gorillaz is the debut album by the British virtual band Gorillaz, released inMarch 2001. It includes the singles “Clint Eastwood,” “19-2000,” “Rock theHouse,” and “Tomorrow Comes Today.” The album reached number three in the UK,and was an unexpected hit in the US, hitting number 14 and selling over fivemillion copies worldwide. Slant magazine and Complex magazine included in theirlist of best albums of the 2000s.
The debut album spans a range of genres from reggae, hip hop, punk, to worldmusic and unadulterated pop. Perhaps the great skill in this album is that thegenres don’t compete with each other, but mesh rather well for a unique sound.
